Microwave assisted reaction, photophysical studies and antibacterial activities of simple sugar chalcone derivatives

Abstract

Aldol condensation is adopted for the synthesis of sugar chalcone derivatives from b-C-glycosidic ketones with various aromatic aldehydes under basic condition with both conventional as well as microwave condition. Microwave assisted reaction gave an excellent yield. Products obtained were characterized using (1H, 13C) and elemental analysis. Sugar chalcone derivatives exhibited an excellent antibacterial activity.S
